Microsoft adds Russian for simultaneous interpreting in Skype calls
MOSCOW, Oct 11 (PRIME) -- Microsoft has added Russian to the list of languages supported by Skype Translator in simultaneous interpreting of video calls and its other products on the basis of the Microsoft Translator platform, the U.S. company said Tuesday in a statement.
“The inclusion of Russian into the catalogue of Skype Translator is a result of multi-year research and scientific achievements of Microsoft. Russian is one of the most popular, but difficult and poetic languages,” Dmitry Khalin, director of the technological policy department at Microsoft in Russia, said.
“Thanks to Skype Translator millions of Russian-speaking people all around the world can communicate in their own language with citizens of other countries without any barriers of misunderstanding.”
Russian has become the ninth language supported by Skype Translator for simultaneous interpreting of voice calls. Instant messages can be translated into more than 50 languages.
